More than just higher scores...
Effective test preparation involves developing a unique skill set; students must cultivate specific test-taking habits for maximum score improvement. Proper development of these skills requires a minimum of 12 tutoring hours (9 hours for ISEE/SSAT/AP/SAT 2 tests) supported by a series of timed practice tests. Therefore, I offer my services in packages to provide high-quality, individualized, effective preparation that produces meaningful results.
Prior to our first session I will consult with the student and family to determine the following: the goal test (SAT/ACT), goal test dates, score improvement goals, and prep hours needed. We will then outline a prep plan that generally consists of one 1.5 hour weekly session. In some cases, two or three weekly sessions for more condensed prep may be appropriate. Your plan will always be customized for your specific needs and goals.
If you are interested in virtual tutoring, I also provide a brief demo tutorial in which you can try the virtual classroom environment before you commit to a package.
All packages include:
Custom SAT/ACT manual, written and designed exclusively for Nicholson Tutoring by highly experienced standardized test content developers
Free travel to student’s home or use of virtual classroom
Phone or virtual consultation after each official test to review scores and plan next steps
Customized student guide to help a student self-prep for an additional test as needed
Unlimited self-proctored practice tests with detailed score review analysis
The 24-hour package includes a satisfaction guarantee: if upon completion of 24 hours of tutoring you are not satisfied with your score improvement on an official test, I will work with you for three hours at no additional charge.
Take a practice ACT
All prep should begin with a baseline score to help the student set realistic goals and to help Sara identify individual strengths and weaknesses. ACT provides a free, full-length practice test that you can self proctor at any time. Click here to download the Preparing for the ACT PDF.
Take a practice SAT
Like the ACT, College Board provides a series of free, full-length practice tests that you can self proctor at any time. Click here to download the tests, answer sheets, and scoring guides.
