EQUATIONS
Today I want to talk to you about some equations concepts that you'll hopefully find helpful for the math modules in the SAT.
As we all know, Desmos is a hugely powerful tool that helps you save a lot of time and move through a lot of math really quickly.
But you'll also have to confront some pretty pesky word problems, and a lot of those test, um, more abstract or conceptual, uh, concepts. ideas about what an equation is, how it's put together, when you multiply, when you add and that sort of thing that Desmos really can't help you with.
So today in this video, we're going to look at four questions in increasing difficulty level, so that you'll hopefully find something that will help take you from wherever you're currently scoring to that next level.
When you're looking at these equation-based word problems, you really want to pay attention to your units, you want to read carefully and break this stuff down into smaller bits, work at it methodically, and pay attention to when you add, when you multiply, when you divide, look at your answer choices, what's the same between all of them, what's changing between all of them, read really carefully, understand that this information does not have to be presented to you in the method most user-friendly way, and it often isn't, okay.
So, read carefully, don't autofill, read it like you don't know what's coming next. It will help you avoid these kinds of errors.
